Here at Fastnet Recruitment we have a fantastic opportunity to place a reliable and hard-working person to join a well-known and established company as a Residential Support Worker based in Burton-on-Trent, supporting in the detoxification to clients.

The Key Accountabilities are: 

  • To carry out the formal induction into detoxification, supported accommodation for new clients explaining in detail the procedures of the unit including cleanliness/boundaries of the property.  Ensuring that all paperwork including Licence Agreements if/when applicable are clearly understood and signed by the service user and copies given to them and original are kept on file.  Ensure that all service user luggage and belongings are searched thoroughly and recorded on the tenant’s inventory. To complete care plans / risk assessments & additional paperwork with service users.
  • To ensure that all discharge procedures are followed when a client leaves the Detoxification/Supported accommodation and to communicate this to relevant departments.
  • To support the delivery of the Therapeutic Programme and Resettlement Programme by working with clients to develop independent living skills and maintaining records of work undertaken.
  • To facilitate effective handovers between Detox/House activities and the daily therapeutic programme staff by recording activities as appropriate and taking part in the handover process.
  • To assist clients to achieve their own goals regarding move on activities, respecting the privacy and need for own space for each client.  Treating clients with respect and dignity to empower them to regain control of their affairs.
  • To complete all admin tasks in a timely fashion and ensure that all records are kept up to date including care plans, risk assessments and other relevant information 
  • To carry out drug and alcohol screening on clients
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all rooms are inspected on a daily basis paying particular attention to Health & Safety and ensuring that any issues are communicated to the Manager/Senior/Supervisor
  • To carry out consultation with the service users on a weekly basis paying attention to feedback and health and safety and ensuring that accurate records are kept and reported to the Manager /Senior/Supervisor
  • Support the Manager with the collection of service user contribution towards the rents 
  • To carry our buildings and ground checks if required
  • To carry out any ad hoc duties required by the organisation.

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Good communicative skills
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Good administrative skills,
  • Support client with independent living
  • Equal opportunities knowledge and understanding
  • Full UK driving licence
  • NVQ in Health and Social care is preferred but not essential as training will be provided. 

Other requirements:

  • Hours of work are followed according to a shift pattern, comprising of days, night, weekends, Monday to Sunday,
  • Rate of pay will be £8.91 in line with minimum wage. 
  • Completion of a satisfactory DBS check.
