Our client has a of number of opportunities to become part of their engineer workforce working in the external network carrying out fibre splicing works on FTTP PON builds, typically for MDU sites around East London.  The work is on all size of fibre cables across different size nodes and does include the PIA network so knowledge of Openreach standards both in terms of build quality and safety standards to access chambers/boxes are essential.

Key skills/experience/general scope are:

  • – Receiving and interpreting job packs
  • – Self-motivated and working to tight deadlines
  • – Logging start and end of day information and photographs to client requirements and using client APPs
  • – Previous experience with various splice closures
  • – Able to operate an Optical power metre & OTDR for testing/fault finding
  • – Prepare and splice fibre optic cables
  • – Understanding test results for troubleshooting
  • – Ensuring a high standard is maintained whilst working in the network
  • – Knowledge of PIA network so understanding Openreach network standards
  • – Knowledge of telecommunication infrastructure and FTTP PON Build, OFN (one fibre network )
  • – Working to KPIs
  • – Adherence to HSE legislation


Each Engineer must have the following:

  • – SA002 Qualification
  • – S7 Qualification (or can get it within 12 weeks of starting)
  • – OBAS cards for access into OR exchange (can be obtained within 5 working days)
  • -A van equipped with the list in App. 3 of the SoW (does not need to be the branded items, but will need the tools etc. for working)
  • – Viavi/EXFO OTDR machine and the ability to upload to the cloud
  • – Tablet/Laptop so they can review splice paths and access to email and our Jira site to upload data

Start date ASAP with Mondays being offered for induction and training days

Pay Rate is £300-350 per day shift (all inclusive rate – fuel & accommodation is included in the rate).

Engineers must provide own tooling, PPE, signing, lighting & guarding and vehicles.
